Time away from work is extremely helpful to keep a healthy work/life balance. We encourage everyone to take time off when they need, and support each other to do the same. If you notice that you teammate is working extra over a long period, remind them about the time off policy.

It is very important to take time off to get back on track and reset your mind, so you can come back with newfound energy and be ready to do great work.

🏖️ Personal leave

We offer 21 days of paid time off plus national holidays every year. This means that as a baseline, you should take 21 days off regardless, however, we do not track your days (except to ask you to take time off, if you haven't).

We care about your results, not how long you work. You don't need to ask approval for time off, but it shouldn't be at the expense of getting your work done. We do ask that you are professional and check with the team before taking any extended absence. When taking time off, make sure your team knows you will not be around.

If you're gone for 72 hours without notification and no contact, this can mean termination of your contract (Job Abandonment) - however we will give the benefit of doubt.

🗓 Holidays

We celebrate locally recognized holidays and encourage everybody to take time off for their local holidays they observe. We don't expect you to attend calls on off days and public holidays. See this link for holidays we recognize in your country.

😪 Sick days

We don't track sick days. If you're not feeling well, or just came out of a health procedure, take the time you need to feel better within reason. We recognize that your mental health is just as important. Take a self-care day here and there when you're feeling overwhelmed, or fatigued, or just finished a big project. If a day or two is not enough, we'll work with you to find a way to help improve your work condition. We really do care that you do your best work at Ouva, and know that it's not possible if you are not sure about your wellbeing.

🐣 Parental leave

If you are the primary caregiver of a new child, you can take up to 16 weeks leave at 100% paid salary. If you are the secondary caregiver of a new child, you can take up to 4 weeks leave at 100% paid salary. We will help with you to get back to work, and recommend easing into your work schedule towards the end of your leave. This time is meant for bonding with the new child and should begin from the date of birth or placement.
